Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) Center

Patients with IIH (idiopathic intracranial hypertension, also called pseudotumor cerebri) require multidisciplinary care for both diagnosis and treatment. Only a team of experts can provide the level of care that is necessary for the well-being of these patients. The Idiopathic Intracranial Center at North Shore University Hospital is one of few in the country—and the only one on Long Island—with an experienced, multidisciplinary team of physicians treating this condition.
When it comes to neurosurgical treatment, choosing the right place for your care is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Many of our patients come to us for care from all over the country—and around the world. Our director, Athos Patsalides, MD, is a world-renowned expert on venous sinus stenting and a pioneer of this procedure. Through multidisciplinary collaboration with other providers, we provide patients the best outcomes, reduced recovery times, shorter hospital stays and the highest possible procedural safety.
As one of the nation’s top-ranked programs for neurosurgery, we offer patients the availability for an appointment virtually or in-office, within 72 hours or less.*
*This guarantee applies to virtual appointments and patients in New York state seeing Dr. Patsalides.
