Exceptional brain and spine care, tailored to you

At the Department of Neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital, we tailor our treatment to the needs of each patient. With world-renowned physicians and the collective resources of Northwell Health, our collaborative approach allows us to design the best treatment plan for you. Our experts are on the forefront of surgical and nonsurgical treatments and regularly contribute to significant advances in technology, education and research in the treatment of brain, spine and cerebrovascular system conditions.

What sets us apart?

The Department of Neurosurgery is Long Island’s first—and Nassau County’s only—comprehensive stroke center to receive Joint Commission accreditation. In addition, we’ve been accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) as a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, providing patients with complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostic monitoring as well as more extensive medical, neuropsychological and psychosocial treatment for epilepsy care. We’re also home to Long Island’s largest neuro ICU—16 bed beds staffed with neurointensivists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners—and have a six-bed stroke unit staffed with world-class stroke specialists.

We have access to the vast resources of Northwell Health, and as a result, we’re part of Long Island’s only health system to provide 24/7 telestroke and tele-ICU coverage. We also have access to the latest and most innovative clinical trials in neurological and neurosurgical care, and collaborate cross-functionally with the departments of psychiatry and physical rehabilitation—to ensure you receive the comprehensive, uninterrupted care you deserve.
