Why choose us
At the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, our specialists are at the forefront of innovation and technology. By providing the newest and most advanced treatments for epilepsy throughout the region and nationally, we are transforming the future of epilepsy care—one groundbreaking achievement at a time.
We are the first on Long Island to:
- Offer laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT), a minimally invasive treatment for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy (when seizures don’t respond to medication)
- Implant the AspireSR device, which delivers vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) to the brain that predicts oncoming seizures
Our team is also the first in the New York metro area, and one of the first in the United States, to use stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) and laser ablation, with MRI-guided thermal imaging and laser technology. With these minimally invasive techniques, our doctors can pinpoint the precise source of seizure activity and surgically remove the part of the brain that is causing seizures.
